“The hotel is best described as quaint & quirky. Rooms are accessible via a succession of odd little staircases and landings. We booked a double and 2 singles; single beds were very narrow. All bathrooms were in need of serious modernisation; two had toilets with grinder machines, very noisy and erratic. Extractor fans were very noisy. Rooms are small, so poorly equipped with chairs, bedside tables etc. Dining room is impressive (amazing 19th century panelling), breakfast staff cheerful and helpful. Didn't have time to explore the health club facilities unfortunately.”

“The warmest welcome ever from the lovely Sue on reception who couldn't do enough, she was the highlight of my stay! She made me feel so welcome and comfortable and really helped, especially as I was staying on my own. The property itself is a wonderful old building full of interesting features, but is a little tired and could do with updating in areas. My room was good with a lovely huge bathroom, all very clean. The fitness suite & pool area could do with some investment to bring it up to date but great facilities for guests to have.”

“This is a listed property with loads of charm and character. Staff were really helpful and friendly. the family have owned the place for 20 years, The spa, whilst I didn't use is very popular with outside public, so there is steady stream in and out, but this does NOT detract from it. Sheets were spotless, crisp and white. breakfast excellent,”
