“The room heater system was great. Room is large, as is the bathroom (by Japanese standards) The outdoor Onsen was really lovely, with a great view. That's it though - nothing else of worth here.”
“Hotel was very nice.. we had a western bedroom plus bathroom and also made use of the public baths, the sepate gender as well as the mixed gender pool at night( I wore a sarong) but they do give for 300yen a short towel dress for the ladies! The meal was full kaiseki and although I do not really like all the pickles and food that I cannot identify (!) it was good and we had a lovely evening... breakfast was nice too( Japanese as well) The hotel is near the rope way and we had a nice drive from Takayama spending the day going up the mountain and lazing in the warm pools. Also this is not really a western tourist destination and Sept is a quiet month... really enjoyable !”
“It was a nice Japanese style onsen hotel. The room in general gave an impression that it was bit dated but which is usually normal for most of Japanese onsen yado. The veiw from the room was great - you can see the Yarigatake with snow cap from the room window. The dinner and breakfast was great - nice Japanese style course meal for dinner and beautifully arranged Japanese style breakfast table in the morning. The fire place near the indoor onsen entrance was nice and cosy. The indoor onsen for ladies was also nice - you can also enjoy outdoor onsen for ladies too. The outdoor male & female onsen was wonderful. You can borrow Yuami (brown bath dress to cover up) for 300 yen so that you can enjoy nice outdoor and snow capped mountain view while enjoying onsen with your family as well.”
“Hot baths. Yukatas and haoris. Ease of access to bus.”
“An amazing hotel close to all local attractions with helpful and genuine staff. Incredibally close to the ropeway and all public baths.”
“Staff will welcome you upon your arrival at bus stop, and they will help you carry luggage until you get into your room. Maps were given for us to get familiar with the place of restaurants and onsen. The outdoor onsen is very nice, especially the mixed gender one, the view with snow is extraordinary! ”
“Amazing hot spring, and really historical room. Really large rooms, and nice service.”
“Location has to be a qualified good as the hotel is 1.5 hour of bus ride away form Takayama. We went there is to experience the out door hot spring as in it is in the wilderness! Also we wanted to take the Shin Hotaka Ropeway which is near to the hotel. We can actually see the outline of the Shin Hotaka Ropeway in the distance from our room. Had fun going down the mini funicular to the mixed public onsen in the wilderness. Beside the mixed onsen, there is a ladies only onsen and a private reserved one too.”
“The indoor and outdoor onsens where some of the best we experienced in Japan. This was a nice break from Tokyo. Had one of the most elaborate dinner and breakfasts ever - once for each was enough though. Staff nice but not much English. Surrounding area beautiful - close to Kamikochi.”
“breakfast and dinner were fantastic, multiple onsens on the property were comfortable and clean with great views, pool is small but comfortable, beautiful surroundings, very retro furnishings, friendly staff.”
