“A good hotel. Very big and "resort-ish". A little out of town, not walking distance, but the free shuttle works well. We had our own car (which I highly recommend between Matsumoto and Kanazawa as you then have flexibility. Driving was easy as the Japanese are so polite). Didn't drive to town as parking can be an issue and can be costly. The onsen was great. Completely different to the onsen we experienced in the mountains, but still great. We had a good, very reasonable steak for dinner in the restaurant just near the onsen. Recommended. Breakfast buffet was great. Takayama is fantastic and well worth a visit on a trip to Japan.”

“Breakfast at the hotel was worth it, great quality food and service, mix of western and Japanese foods. The hotel resort also has very nice public onsen as well as private ones that you can rent for reasonable price. We tried both the onsens (they rotate between men and women) as well as the private one. The private one you have a small bath for two to three, suitable for family or couples. The restaurant near the onsen is also much better value than the other restaurants. The cafe near the lobby is also nice to have. We learnt that you can also sent your luggage to and from the station so you dont have to carry it with you, especially if you plan to do some other things before taking the train.”
