“A gem for those who like small, friendly boutique hotels. This one (actually Hotel Hecht, sister hotel to the Loewen, closed for renovations) was run by very efficient ladies who couldn't have been more helpful. With three overnights, the hotel also supplies the Appenzell Holiday Card which, for one week, allows for at least $200-300 worth of free travel on trains, busses, and cable cars. Both the hotel and the Holiday Card are an exceptional bargain in expensive Switzerland”
