The northeast midland county, one of England's most expansive, features over 3,000 miles of public trekking trails and 1,000 miles of Green Lanes (unsurfaced highways). The 160 mile Viking Way footpath runs through the heart of Lincolnshire, over its charactaristic Wolds (rolling, unforested hills) and Fens (low-lying marshes) to the Humber Bridge near the North Sea.
