Les meilleurs hôtels à Cleveland

Though its slogan is "Cleveland rocks!", locals say this city's actually all about sports: Indians baseball, Browns football, and Cavaliers basketball. But sports mania aside, this city still has and probably always will have a great live music scene. It's the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as the Cleveland Agora, where everyone from Springsteen to the Ramones has played. There's a great bar scene by the river, as well as in the Tremont area. And fans say local station WMMS still ranks as one of the best rock stations ever. Insiders' favorite year-round activities include dining out in Little Italy and shopping at Crocker Park or Legacy Village. In summer, people head out to the islands: Catawba, Marblehead, Kelleys Island, and Put-in Bay. A fave summertime hangout is Whiskey Island, an outdoor bar along the lakeshore where the Cuyahoga River meets Lake Erie.
Cleveland rocks -- in its own understated way. Perhaps that's why the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was built here. The choice puzzled some who thought New York or L.A. a more logical locale. It's that same big-city bias that's made Cleveland the unfair butt of jokes for so many years. It's freezing cold on Lake Erie, it's miles from anywhere else, and there's a slanderous myth that nothing happens here. An atmosphere like that, conducive to desperate self-expression, was made for rock and roll. Some truly great bands have come out of Cleveland: cult favorite Pere Ubu is the strangest, and in many ways the greatest. There is even more to Cleveland than the intense creativity of its guitar-wielding youth. If the Cleveland Indians were for years symbolic of this city's woes, they are now the harbingers of its renaissance. Cleveland may be on the brink of a new era. A $3.5 billion redevelopment effort has turned downtown into a cosmopolitan mecca. And the area's 50 hospitals and 23 med schools make it one of the world's top health care centers. Will Cleveland find an influx of disaffected New Yorkers and Angelinos making tracks for its moderate confines? Right now, Cleveland has one of the lowest housing costs in the U.S. Divided into an east side and west side by the Cuyahoga River, Cleveland neighborhoods have a strong sense of identity, which ultimately is why this city, once and for all, is no joke.
