It costs a buck to be catapulted back in time at the Civil War/Living History event held every summer in Lima, Ohio. Here, history buffs who can't get enough from textbooks recreate the era in drill demonstrations and 1860s Rounders (baseball). A military ball follows the Saturday evening meal. Fast-forward to the present, where Lima is the place (number one in the state) for upground reservoir fishing. Anglers in rowboats find that the reservoirs in this West Central Ohio city are loaded with walleye, perch, crappie, bluegill, catfish, and white and small-mouth bass. The area is also stocked to the gills with golf and tennis facilities. And the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District offers an outlet for noncompetitive sports (like strolling). Event highlights include March's Maple Syrup Festival and the annual autumn Apple Festival.
