In 1816, a lonely outpost of the American Fur Company poked its nose out of the west bank wilderness of the Saginaw River. From this somewhat wobbly beginning, Saginaw, Michigan, has evolved into a manufacturing and heavy industry center fabricating foundry products, automobile parts, graphite products and precision instruments.
