“This is an old building in a beautiful setting, within the walls, which are also a colonnade, overlooking the city, which is easily reached on foot. The entrance is through the colonnade, very near to the top of the hill (Monte Berico), your driving app might try to get you there wrong way, that is why I mention (there is another narrow street leading to the walkway which goes up to the hotel, wrong choice). Parking is free and breakfast is included, so the moderate price is very good value. The rooms are spacious, but simple, no luxury, a bit old-fashioned, especially the bathroom. But the bathroom is well heated and shower is fine - enough room and not fixed in the wall. Breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular, but good coffee from the bar, juice, cereals, yoghurt, doughnuts, croissants, jam, honey, chocolate spread, buns. What is special about this place is that old ladies work there, and they do it just right.”
“I liked the very gentle personnel, I liked the very calm and relaxed atmosphere. I liked the position of the hotel, downtown but far from the noise.”
“Location is beautiful and a well priced restaurant with good food up the road.”
“Nice location on the outskirts of Vicenza near a large church - area very crowded when a mass was taking place. Lovely views from just up the road from the hotel.”
“The peace was a welcome relief after the hustle of previous city visits. The wonderful staff at San Raffaele quietly and calmly went about their business and were very accommodating and helpful.”
“Fantastic and scenic location with views of the historical centre of Vicenza. Short and pleasant walk to major sights including Basilica Monte Berico (less than 5 minutes), Villa Valmarana and Villa Rotonda (10/20 mins), the Palladian Basilica and city centre (25 mins). The main train station is also close by, making this a very good base for day trips to Venice. Very sweet and helpful staff.”
“Breakfast very good .Views over Vicenze excellent from the hotel”
“We keep comming back to this place because it is simple, honest and has a superb setting above Vicenza.”
“Staying at the 300+-year-old Albergo San Raffaele was a wonderful experience. It was picturesque and romantic. The staff made up in friendliness what was lacking in English fluency. My room was minimalist, but very clean, and it had a terrific view! The breakfasts were pleasant, the view of the old city was excellent, access to the Basilica di S. Maria di Monte Berico was convenient, it had nearby restaurants, had free parking, was close to the railway station, and was a great buy. The only disadvantage was that the wi-fi is limited to the public areas. However, having visited friends in four other Vincenza hotels I'd be more than ready to make another reservation at Albergo San Raffaele, or recommend it to others.”
“Clean, quiet place, spacious room and bathroom, nice garden, close to Rotonda and Ai nani. Wifi only in the lobby left more time to ourselves. A 20-minute walk to the centre was a good excercise. Very nice personnel.”
