“What's not to like about staying in a norman castle. Room was lovely and staff couldn't do enough for you. Even got a private room for breakfast. We stayed for our evening meal which was amazing. Just to sit in peace and quite and soak up the history of the castle. Lovely river walk and gardens were beautiful. Had a guided tour with a very enthusiastic guide. Wish we had stayed longer.”

“Atmosphere- quiet town, private property opened to paying public was just wonderful staying in such a historic unspoilt property. This is very rare, apart from the Wolsely Lodge scheme, in the past I have only come across this a couple of times and both are now just private houses again I think - you can't stay there. Staff very friendly and helpful. Of course it is not a Four Seasons but what do you expect? Great value. Tourists to UK should all head ere to see what good old England was all about.”

“We loved the 'like in a museum' stay where you are actually allowed to touch everything. The spa bath was a great hit with the children and the complimentary tour around the castle was excellent.”

“It was the best night's sleep that we have had during our stay. We received an excellent hot chocolate drink and some fudge on our arrival at around 9.30 pm. The breakfast was of a very good standard. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. There is so much history in the castle and we were able to sit in the old chapel and the great room during our stay. The great room has so many things of interest in it. A really great stay.”

“My partner and I absolutely LOVED our stay here. It was probably one of the best nights we have ever had away. Lying on the sofa in front of the open fire in the grand hall was incredible. The hosts were fabulous and hilarious. We went fly fishing on the Eden the day after and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Loved the fact that the owner was trying to set up a marriage proposal between us that evening! Considering coming back for more next weekend whilst fishing season is in swing. This is our new favourite hotel... thanks for making us so welcome.”
