“This place was a real hidden gem about 2 hours to the north of Beijing. The hotel was part of the Gubei water town resort. The room was spacious, very clean, stocked with all amneties and very comfortable for our family travelling with three children (10, 7, and 2). Hotel guests received multiple entry passcards to the water town which was a replica of the wuzhen water town near Shanghai. Don't let the word replica misplaced this resort, just as we knew the Disneyland was a man-made attraction, we had a fantastic time there in every visit. One of the highlights was enjoying the outdoor spa/onsen overlooking the great wall that was lit up in the evening. Simply beautiful. The children greatly enjoyed strolling in the water town with many good restaurants though prices were on the high end. Be sure to enjoy the breakfast spread, with both western and local dishes, all were tasty and delicious and made a great start for the day.”

“This is a lovely big luxury hotel thats great value for money. Big clean beds and rooms, very luxurious. It's just outside the Gubei water town which is beautiful and lovely to stroll though and grows on you once you can work it out. It also gives good access to the Simatai Great Wall. Get up early and go at opening time to have it to yourself before the hordes arrive. Take the cable car go to fort 8 then climb to fort 10 then a slow walk all downhill to fort 1. Great wall experience. Not much English at all so it has its challenges but well worth the effort.”

“Top hotel! Enorm groot! Toeristische plaats, vooral in het weekend werden we overdonderd door de bussen chinezen, maar desondanks was het echt een heel mooi en vooral gezellig dorp! Zeker de moeite waard en naast de muur waardoor je smorgens als een de eerste een prachtig uitzicht hebt.”
