“Unparalleled location for outdoor sports (both summer and winter), andreal "find" for foodies and those in search of fine-dining - aconcept not frequently found in that part of Germany! An awesome team inthe kitchen, top-notch (and knowledgeable) serving team with reasonablypriced menu and wine list in which Thuringian produce featuresprominently. My particular favourites were an exquisite slow-cooked beefand mushroom casserole of immense depth, warmth and intensity and aluscious vanilla flavoured(?) risotto to accompany a cheese stuffedchicken breast. (Local cheeses feature on the menu too, now - a welcomeaddition since our last visit to the Schieferhof.) Staff wereexceptionally helpful and caring and cannot be rated too highly. The buffet-type breakfast is not to be missed on any account, and try the localbeer - excellent!”
