“Characterful oldish hotel, with a very attractive dining room and cuisine to match, and a quite capacious, and comfy, bar also with very fine menu. (I had a Christmas turkey dinner at 9.00 pm.) The best recommendation is that we broke our journey south from Greater Glasgow to revisit the Crown last night. Situated just three miles from Junction 42 on M6. Follow signs for Wetheral and follow the curve of the main road down and left through the village until you pass a small village green on the right and come level with 'Fantails' on left. The Crown is a few yards down the small road immediately to the right, running perpendicular to 'Fantails', the first building being the Post Office and its tea room. Well worth experiencing the Crown's food, good-sized, reasonably priced rooms, and relaxing atmosphere.”

“We had an excellent meal in the conservatory on Sunday evening and an inclusive breakfast in the morning which sadly was not great, the coffee was awful and bacon very crisp, however the service was excellent.”
