“This is a unique property, built in 1926, with masses of period ambience. Our room had a ranching theme, with rifles, saddles, saddlebags, bugles, and other accoutrements. The ceiling had vigas and latillas, and the lighting was low and atmospheric. Apart from that, there were plenty of luxurious touches, such as the toiletries and bath robes.”

“The staff, especially at the attached gift store, were extremely helpful. I had to buy a wedding present and they went above and beyond the call of duty to package it, wrap it, and make sure it looked great! While I didn't spent a lot of time at the Gage, the hotel and grounds were very nicely maintained and the overall impression I got was of a fine property. The historical nature of the place and proximity to Big Bend were also definite plusses!”
“The staff is very friendly and accommodating the minute you arrive at the Gage Hotel. The amenities are nice, Keurig machines with locally roasted coffee pods in your room. The restaurant and bar were over the top with service and delicious offerings. You will want to eat at the 12 Gage Restaurant at least once for dinner. Make reservations, it's not very large and they are one of the only restaurants available in Marathon. I ate in the White Buffalo bar my last night and they allowed me to order off either the bar menu or the main restaurant menu. I highly recommend trying the red deer if they've still got it on their menu.”
