“The location was amazing with great views of the lake from the restaurant. Staff cannot speak English but we're super polite, friendly and helpful. The lake is fantastic to swim even though the locals thought it too cold. Great destination to see Lake Biwa and surroundings if you have a car and want to get away from the traffic. Breakfast great value.”
“Great staff. Wonderful location. Good restaurant. Ideally remote from traffic.”
“The room was good. Staff was friendly and helpful.”
“The location is perfect; right next to Lake Biwa and a sandy and gravelly beach to play on next to a calm lake. Perfect for kids. The accommodation was fairly cheap given its location. The hotel offered extra things you could pay for. We opted for a BBQ on the beach (a little pricey at ¥4000pp but a great selection of food offered). We also took up paddle boarding. There is a convenience store up the road and an Indian restaurant only 100 meters away which is one of the best Indians we've experienced in japan.”
“As a cyclist, the location was perfect - right on Lake Biwa between Kyoto and Fukui Prefecture. The room was spacious compared with most hotel rooms in Japan. The water and beach on the Lake were clean and comfortable.”
“This place is great to relax at, would recommend as a good stop from kanazawa to kyoto etc...”
“Great location on the shores of Lake Biwa ! Rooms are cute with all wooden walls and view on the lake was lovely.”
“The short term maintenance ie room cleaning was was excellent so we felt comfortable and enjoyed our stay. One day was a buffet breakfast which was great.”
“The staffs are very kind and helped me and my family when I stay Makino, really thank you for their help. Biwako and its beach just behind the hotel, if come here during summer will be quite wonderful!”
“The hotel is located right by lake Biwa. Great views and fantastic access to the beach which is great for kids. We were there off season so it was really quiet. In the center there is a restaurant called Totoro! Don't miss it if you visit Makino.”
