“Home made pastries delicious. Warm friendly welcome. Lady on reception speaks good English and is very helpful. Restaurants locally better avoided in favour of those about 5-10 minutes walk away to west and north in centre of old town. Many to choose from.”

I felt welcome as soon as I entered the door, regardless of the fact that I was soaked to the skin from the thunder storm that greeted me at Angouleme. I regretted that I was only staying for one night, as the town and the hotel were charming. Some great restaurants, a lovely atmosphere and, of course, all the wonderful artwork on just about every blank wall in the town. Has to be seen to be believed. I really want to return, and if I do, I will be staying at Hotel La Palma again.”
