“The 2 brothers who run this place are friendly and extremely helpful. It has a relaxed informal atmosphere.”
“Perfect rest day on the Camino Norte. Very peaceful place.”
“From the outside and inside the hotel is really lovey. This hotel is interesting piece of interior design and decoration. The staff are extremely nice. Everything is comfortable and very clean Our rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Dinner was fantastic, pizza was excellent, delicious salad. The breakfast was excellent with the full range of cheeses, meats and everything you would expect to see on a typical Spanish breakfast I certainly recommend this hotel for who is walking the Camino del Norte and prefers sleeping in a hotel”
“This hotel has huge potential but it is being undermanaged. Heaps of little things. Plates that are chipped, oil cloth on the tables, though practical do not auite fit the image. Loads of old and dusty dried flowers everywhere... This is a difficult one, a number of staff seemed to suffer from body odour. Not what you would expect. Flies were drifting around the breakfast ham and cheese. The breakfast was very mediocre but the coffee was good. The meal at night had a good menu and my choices were well done, grilled vegetables and a mushroom risotto with octopus broth. Just tidy it all up a bit and maybe put all the Nepal family memoribilia in one place. The reception seemed to be used as a storeage place for linen. And the cleaning cart should be well gone by 5 pm.”
“Great warm-hearted place with excellent food. Large very clean rooms. Well worth the small detour from the Camino de Norte.”
“The off-beat style of the hotel will be attractive to some customers. A lot of effort has gone into the décor and the chalet style is very attractive. A good place for long walks and country pursuits. Follow the dedicated footpath from Markina to the hotel's front door.”
“A true Basque renovated watermill as a smith, with an authentic décor. Extremely friendly and helpful brothers who run the hotel. Daily a full breakfast and a creative kitchen for dinner.”
“Beautiful setting, beautiful building. Lovely design. Quirky”
“The history of the building was very interesting. Our 20 year old daughters loved the cave exploration they were led on by one of the hotel staff who are avid climbers and spelunkers.”
“An interesting example of an old basque country house. Staff were cheerful, friendly, and attentive. Good food and admirable hospitality”
