“Super all round. Our room had a double instead of two singles but was changed immediately. Lovely friendly and efficient staff. Excellent food and everything was real value for money. I highly recommend. Our safari was arranged with a really nice driver cum guide who really knew his stuff. Location could not have been better beside elephant orphanage and very near park gates.”

“Hotel Athgira is situated right across the entrance of the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home. You would have no trouble at all finding it! We received a warm welcome. The room we got was clean and spacious with good air-conditioning. It was right by the swimming pool which was really convenient. The pool was also very clean and large-enough. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful with several options. There was space enough to park at least 3 average-sized cars securely. Overall, I would surely recommend this for a short stay.”

“Very friendly staff - helpful and kind. Location is behind the Athgira Restaurant, which seems a bit dusty at first sight, but is a quiet retreat with a Swimmingpool. Great place to stay, when you want to go on Safari in Udawalawe National Park. Rooms are nice and clean.Maybe one of the best plusses is the great food in the Restaurant. Breakfast ist very tasteful and extensive. For lunch/dinner order chopsy or noodles!”

“staff was nice and friendly, they offer you fruit drinks when you arrive, breakfast was great, parking available, great and safe location, they arrange the safari jeep for you cost 5000 rs and I was upgraded to a a better room with a nice view of a balcony for a normal price room because i was their only guest at the time :)”
