Important Notice
- If foreign guests share a room with Peruvian guests, then the extra tax (IVA) must be paid.<br><br>--<br><br>Based on local tax laws, Peruvian citizens (and foreigners staying more than 59 days in Peru) must pay an additional fee of 18%. To be exempt from this 18% additional fee (IVA), a copy of the immigration card and passport must be presented.<br><br>Please note both documents are required for fee exemption. Guests who are not able to present both documents will be required to pay the fee.<br><br>Foreign business travellers who require a printed invoice, will also be charged the additional 18% regardless of the length of their stay in Peru. This fee is not automatically calculated in the total costs for the reservation.

“The location is amazing and the property is beautiful. All the Staff offers the best service. They try to be so helpful and everybody is kind and professional. Unfortunately food for dinner is terrible. Menu options were poor and Chef repeated the same menu two nights in a row. Manager was never there so it was hard to deal with specific situations where management input was required.”

“El Refugio was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was super accommodating. We arrived very early to the hotel, and they allowed us to check in early. They also arranged an amazing private tour for us for a great price. The beds were comfortable, the shower was hot, the hot springs were nice, and the heater worked well (we came in Peruvian wintertime). We also saw two condors flying outside of the hotel which was really cool! There is a resident alpaca who is very cute as well.”
“The breakfast was wonderful, the rooms were very comfortable and good hot water for showers. At night the staff put a hot water bottle at the foot of the bed and there was also a portable heater in the room. It was out by itself but a short taxi ride to Chivay.”

“If you want a quiet away from it all hotel, this is a great place to stay. The staff were friendly and one employee tried her hardest to help book tours and activities. The food was adequate. The hotel had its own hot springs pool. It was lovely to spend time there, a nice free feature. The room was located on the upper level and has huge. There was a lovely view of the canyon which the hotel was locate in.”
