“Decent hotel a few KM from the railway station (250 Rs fixed fare) and about 1 KM uphill walk to Mall road. Expect huffing and puffing - this is Shimla! Stairs down to the hotel are very steep so be careful. You will find all kinds of shops and restaurants around the Mall. Hotel is midrange and staff as well as owner father/son duo are very helpful. Foreign credit cards are welcome. Good clean and new bathroom with 24 hour hot water. I took a one day private tour of Kufri + Narkanda (Narkanda is definitely worth it but if you miss Kufri, you haven't missed anything) and then Shimla-Dehradun drop-off next day with Santram (9816879882), who is affiliated with the hotel. He is very careful, courteous, helpful and trustworthy and speaks passable English. I definitely recommend him.”
“Hotel Grace has amazing rooms with a lot of wooden which creates a homey warm feel. Combine that with the scenery and exotic window view (monkeys and mountains), and you already have a special stay. Also they have an excellent extended food menu. Bed was the most comfotable bed I've ever had in India! Still miss it. Perfect location from the mall road: a nice, easy stroll to reach it. Quiet but easy to find location of hotel.”

“The rooms were warm and sunny with a lovely view over the valley. The bathrooms were recently renovated and had excellent hot water from solar with electic backup. The staff were helpful and obliging even though they didn't have a lot of English. The manager and his son had good English so were there to help when needed.”
