“The breakfast had a big variety and was presented nicely. Nice and large indoor pool. Also a nice relaxing area with a large and well maintained garden. The hotel is located far away from any restaurant, store and whatsoever. For people who wants to hike it's fine, because you can make several hikes in the proximity. Or for people just wanting to relax at the big indoor pool it's fine. But… (see at the negative points)”

“The breakfast was superb - organic fruits from the garden and home-made juices and jams. An excellent selection of buffet items. I was surprised to find a delicious chocolate birthday cake in my room one night when we returned from Funchal. Great pool and gym, although we didn't use them, and excellent location for walking. You need a car - and you need to understand it's 20-25 minutes from Funchal.”

“Facilities & the gardens were fantastic. Located in a quiet part of Madeira up in the mountains, a scenic 50 minute bus ride from Funchal. The breakfast buffet was superb as was the service. The chef went out of his way to make vegan dishes, it would be great if these were permanently on the menu. Room was cleaned regularly and was very nice, huge bed. Overall, a brilliant stay :)”

“One of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had! Hand-made feel, fresh fruits and smoothies. The breakfast staff was attentive and considerate. I understood that they use their own produce from the garden in their food as well. The hotel is beautifully located and has a wonderful surrounding garden to stroll in. Don't know how it would be possible to get there though without a car (or at least it would't be very convenient).”

“The staff were lovely. Cheerful and helpful without exception. There is a beautiful pool area, a small but well equipped gym and all very bright and clean. The hotel grounds are well maintained and quite beautiful. There is an excellent tennis court, racquets and ball for guests to use - and if you are lucky enough to be the only people wanting to play, as my wife and I were, then it's like having your own private court.”

“The room was superb with a delightful balcony. We were B&B with the breakfast definitely amongst the best buffet style we've had. A lot of the food was grown in the grounds. The drive to the hotel was challenging up some very steep and narrow roads, great fun for a good driver We took the excellent (free) garden tour with Manager Marco. A must for any visitor keen on gardening and ecology. The swimming pool and sauna were top quality and everywhere was scrupulously clean.”
