“We used Le Grand Hard as a base for walks in the Normandy area, specifically WW2 related walks, for which it is ideal, based just behind Utah beech. We sometimes ate at the hotel (4 nights), sometimes ate out (3 nights). You could easily eat at the hotel every night if you decided to, we sometimes travel afar (Pegasus Bridge, for example), walk during the day, and then stay in that area for dinner, before returning to LGH. This was our second visit, we will return. The food is particularly worth an extra mention, we just have the chef's choice most nights, it is excellent and certainly superb value for money when comparing with other food outlets all around Normandy. However, we have seen the a la carte orders coming out around us, everything always looks fabulous. Everyone at the hotel is friendly and welcoming, the venue is multi-lingual, and everyone speaks English to a high degree. The hosts are fluent. In short, we love it here, I'm sure that others will too.”

“A beautiful spot in a country setting close to Utah Beach. Friendly hosts, comfortable, well-furnished rooms and a nice restaurant on the premises. Although the breakfast isn't included in the booking price, the cost of the breakfast plus the room is still very reasonable, and the breakfast was one of the best of our two week Normandy trip. Hosts are incredibly well organized - they have detailed print outs of their own suggested itineraries for excursions in the area that are better than anything I've seen in a stack of guidebooks.”
