“Mansión Alcazar was probably the most luxurious hotel we visited during our Ecuador roundtrip. Our suite was large (don´t let yourself be fooled by the description of the bedroom having 9 square meters at Booking.com; this doesn´t include the much larger second room). The whole edifice is decorated in an old-fashioned but by no means dowdy style. The staff was very cordial, apt and effective. The hotel provides parking at a parking lot about 200 meters away, which is guarded during the day and locked during the night (with the hotel having the keys). The only downside was the limited selection at breakfast and therefore the limited ability to cater to some of our dietary needs (allergy to gluten). All in all, however, it´s easy to understand why Mansión Alcazar is often considered Cuenca´s best hotel.”
“Ideal location. Beautiful gardens and plantings in the hotel. Room was very nice and comfortable. Hot water bottles come with the turndown service (!) Was there for 2 nites. Should have stayed 3. Dinner there was fine. Also - Eat at the Mangiare Benne Restaurante while you are in Cuenca. (Easy walk from the hotel) A really fine hotel in a great city.”
“Mansion Alcazar is decorated with exquisite taste, maintaining the Spanish Colonial style. At the same time, remodeled bathrooms offer comfort and neatness. The Restaurant's menu is five stars indeed. Professional staff looks after every detail. I would definitely stay at Mansion Alcazar again and recommend it to any traveler.”
“The hotel itself is nice. It has nothing to do with "La Mirage" in Cotacachi which is a REAL luxury hotel. This hotel is nicely renovated and the restaurant is very good.”
“It was centrally located in the heart of old town Cuenca. The service from all of the staff was five star and I would rate that against the best in the U.S. For a property that is around 100 years old they have maintained it extremely well. The garden is absolutely beautiful and the furnishings are very period oriented. The restaurant is fabulous and the price of a gourmet meal is about half of what you would pay in the U.S or UK. The surroundings show some of the age of an old third world city, but that is part of the charm and experience if you want to embrace the culture of the Ecuadorian people. Introduce yourself to Fernando, I believe he is the GM, but acts more like a head concierge, he is amazing. You will be glad you chose to stay at Maison Alaczar. We stayed in a suite for one week in the main building. We spoke to many other guests and they were just as pleased as we were with thier rooms and service of the staff.”
“Fabulous property in a gorgeous Colonial mansion in the heart of downtown. Enjoyed the gardens, dinner in the Gazebo, but the best part was the staff-- they were terrific.”
“My bed was extremely comfortable. One of those where you get in bed and just say Ahhhh...under a mountain of covers. If you want to make points with your woman, take her here! Be sure to take advantage of the spa treatments. Have lunch (or dinner) in the cute little restaurant. The food is excellent. Affluent locals come here and make business deals. The front desk staff is incredible.”
“Lovely boutique property with pleasant staff and nice facilities.”
“Superb staff, attention to every detail for guests comfort”
“The hot water bags placed inside the bed at night. Fantastic.”
