“Amazing room and terrace all to ourselves on the third floor, room 3. Very helpful staff. Delicious food. Lots of actitivies that can be booked through the hotel, and airport transfers. Shela is a fab place to stay.”
“My 10 year old son and I went and it was like staying with family. They welcomed us and took very good care of us, the food was delicious!”
“Loved the corridar fittings that come with our room. It was so relaxing.”
“The hotel is in a good location and about a 5 minute walk to the beach. It has a good modern design that remains true to the Lamu aesthetic. The staff were warm & friendly. Our room on the 3rd floor had a fabulous view of Shela. The double room was clean, spacious had ample storage space and comfortable beds. Breakfast was pretty decent. I recommend the orange and/or lime juice. We didn't eat at the Mango Roof Top Restaurant but apparently the chef prepares a mean fish curry.”
“The view, food and the terrace. If you have the 3rd floor suite with the terrace you are in for a treat (we got an upgrade from day2). We spent our entire time lounging in the huge sofa bed or the the rocking bed reading our books in sunshine looking out onto the coast. The beach is 5 minute walk away and it was untouched and we were the only people there during our visit. We were able to eat all our meals on our terrace and the staff, especially Oscar was a darling! The coconut shakes are a must and the seafood at the restaurant was always on point! We were introduced to a yoga instructor by the hotel manager and managed to have private lessons on the terrace as well. All in all it was a fantastic little getaway where we were able to recharge our batteries and with the untouched rural surroundings, it helped us feel quite humbled to be there. Shela Island where this hotel is located is absolutely wonderful and all the locals were very welcoming.”
“The Hotel is beautiful and the room and balcony were amazing, comfortable and with a great view!! Staff is really friendly and helpful.”
“Great hotel run by locals with genuine Swahili feel. Attentive staff, good service and good Swahili food. Crab and fish courses excellent and super fresh. Thank you, Msafini, for making our stay a very memorable one, especially for my mum visiting Kenya! Will be back for more!”
“excellent room with an amazing balcony/terrasse (lounge chair, hanging bed, beautiful view) (the other rooms seem to have a smaller balcony); nice atmosphere, beautifully decorated in typical Swahili style; scrumptious breakfast served on the terrasse; excellent food at the hotel's restaurant”
“They changed our room and the view was better than the first one. It's not as close to the shore as they say but the people were great and helped out with the anything. THe pool is good at night .”
“A bit difficult to get to the hotel. Lots of leaves in the pool. Cleanliness could be much better. The floor of the room was always full of sand. The breakfast could be better. As a Genius client, I should have free transfer back to the airport, but it didn't happened.”
