“The Portland hotel is undergoing renovation but it is clean the staff are friendly and courteous also the breakfast was excellent. I presume the room we were given was one that is awaiting renovation it was on the top floor accessed via a rather steep staircase . Overall we enjoyed our brief stay and would go back after the renovations are completed.”

“exellent breakfast modern refurbed dining room friendly helpfull owner robert 5 minute walk to all pubs opera house park area , about 20 miles to chatsworth house.also swimming baths just over the road,you can also fill your bottles with buxton spring water for free from the well tap in the crescent next to the old hall hotel where queen mary was held prisoner before her sticky end, also the pubs are very dog friendly.”
