“This is a troglodyte hotel - the bonus experience therefore was sleeping underground. The walls of the room are carved out of stone. It was a fabulous experience. The owner's son who greeted us was very welcoming. Dinner that evening in their restaurant (also underground) was also a great experience. Host was the father. A set menu, there was more than adequate food and their special bread made on site was awesome. A hiatus in the courses was a visit to the section of the underground restaurant where the bread was being made. Breakfast the next morning, also underground, hosted by the mother (this is a family enterprise) was also delightful. Plenty of food options and coffee; and all fresh and beautifully presented. All in all a great experience for anyone looking for something a little different!”
“Unique family run hotel experience.in troglodyte village. Choose a troglodyte room if you can for the full effect. (Layout is like the villages on Tataooine, caves around an excavated sunken courtyard). Family is passionate about their vision to develop the hotel and its restaurants, all linked together underground. We know the Loire so well, but staying here and exploring the other troglodyte sites around Doué was completely new, different and memorable. Room facilities excellent, with raw rock walls and nice bathroom and in a heat wave (38 degrees) this was the perfect escape. Best thing was going into the cave next door for breakfast by candlelight, fabulous. ”
“Unique ambience, friendly staff. The family goes out of the way to make it a memorable experience from the way dinner is served, the unique trip of the bakery , the way they are carving out the hotel from the cave rock, that's really beautiful. It has also very quiet and peaceful surroundings.”

The troglodyte experience in the bedrooms and restaurant areas needs to be experienced to believe and understand; photographs help a little bit but the ambiance of the place is truly unique.
