Takahara's hillside setting gives magnificent views of the valley below - especially in the morning when it's full of mist. The traditional Japanese facilities are very good and clean, especially the onsen. The staff and meals were fantastic. We highly recommend it, especially for trail walkers.”

“Amazing place altogether! Beautiful sceneries with an incredible view on the misty valley, great onsen facilities, nice rooms and friendly staff. The food was amazing too! We arrived quite late after walking the kumano kodo (which by the way the hotel is very close to) and our dinner was the best food we had during our entire trip! Various small Japanese dishes, many of them unknown to us, each delicately balanced in taste and cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this place! ”
