“Comfy bed; fluffy towels and interesting decor in the bedroom. Excellent food as always!”
“Room: was small, simple, and no frills, with twin beds that were reasonably comfortable. Walls were a bit thin, and there was a bit of traffic noise but no real problem for us, we slept fine. Bathroom: was tiny and rather simple, but did what it needed to. Service: was very friendly on check in, however breakfast and check out was less smooth, with confusion over food and the final bill. All ironed out without much fuss nevertheless. Location: is fantastic, right in the centre of wells and literally on the cathedral green (rooms facing the cathedral would have direct views of this impressive building; we were on the street side alas but still a quaint view). Lots of restaurants and pubs nearby. While there is no parking on site, you can park overnight in long term parking on the roof at Waitrose for about £6-7, about five minutes walk from the hotel. Food: we didn’t eat at the restaurant for dinner, but breakfast was an interesting experience. We’d been on the road for over a week and had done our dash with the full English, so asked for a variation (with less food) which seemed to cause some confusion with the waitress and kitchen. While we eventually got exactly what we asked for, it was done with little care or attention. Top tips: opt for the full English, I’m sure it would have been the better option.”
“Very good location, we also ate in the restaurant in the evening. Very good food and prompt service .”
“Delicious breakfast, friendly staff and a super quirky building made this stay so enjoyable! The restaurant was exceptional, we had a delicious meal in the evening - some of the best Italian food I’ve ever eaten ... up there with the Italian good on a recent trip to Rome. Reasonably priced too!”
“Very enjoyable comfortable stay breakfast was plentiful hot and staff were very polite and helpful will definately return”
“Stunning cathedral view. Comfortable and cosy single room.”
“Comfortable room in a lovely old building full of history. The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble, and the food both in the evening and breakfast was good.”
“I was travelling on my own to a family function and so I had a single room on the top floor. Steep stairs but very cosy with a wonderful view of Wells Cathedral. I kept the window and curtains open at night and so I could see the view when I woke up. Very comfortable bed and can't fault the bathroom. Would recommend.”
“Recommend booking at least one meal at the attached restaurant!”
“Great location, friendly staff and nice breakfast.”
