Those romantic, intriguing Swiss bank accounts really do exist. They are here, in Zurich, Switzerland's financial center. Athough Bern is the federal capital, Zurich is the largest city in the country -- there is the lure of money, afterall. The tourism board has coined it the "little big city," for its village feel and worldly sophistication. It's a small, compact city, much of which you can cover on foot, especially the shopping district. The district is what you'd expect in a chic Swiss city: boutiques carrying fur, antiques and chocolates (which can run the same price as some precious metals). It's no WalMart. The city is also full of culture -- 30 museums and over 100 art galleries are here. The Kunsthaus houses pieces from Rodin, Matisse and a large collection of Munch. The Swiss National Museum is also a draw, offering visitors a detailed look at the history and culture of the country. Zurich has drawn people who've made significant impacts on Western culture: Irish great James Joyce wrote here (he's buried in Flutern Cemetery) and Carl Jung developed modern psychoanalysis in the city. And although the country's wintery Alps draw thousands of tourists each year, Zurichers still celebrate the season's demise every year. A Spring festival culminates with the igniting of a cotton snowman. It's stuffed with fireworks, sending winter off with a bang.
