Les meilleurs hôtels à Zermatt

Picture this: huge mountains (it's in the Swiss Alps, afterall), car-free villages, cable-cars, wooden homes and lots and lots of snow. And a 365-day-a-year ski season to boot. No wonder the swanky resorts in Canton Valais make for a skiing Mecca. Matterhorn, arguably one of the most famous mountains in the Alps, rises above the chic village resort of Zermatt. The mountain has claimed over 400 lives, but still, in peak season over 200 intrepid hikers reach the summit. Once off the mountain, the hikers can be delivered to dinner in a horse drawn carriage or by an electric car (like many of the villages in Valais, gas powered cars are left at the city limits). Although the region is obsessed with skiing, it does sustain itself with beauty and culture, too. Every year, Verbier is host to an international music festival extraordinaire. When not being inspired by the genius of musicians, you can stroll along the town's streets to be inspired by the sheer beautiful power of the view.
